Micro Machines on Nintendo 64 is a top-down racer built around toy vehicles competing on oversized everyday surfaces. Courses are laid out across household and garden settings, so a race might run along a table top, through a workshop, or across a garden path, with drops, obstacles and household objects forming the hazards. You pick a small vehicle and race the fixed camera view, where falling off the edge of the surface resets you and losing ground to the leaders can knock you out of the race entirely. The multiplayer focus is a core part of the design, letting several players share the screen at once for short, frantic races. Handling is arcade-style and immediate, with an emphasis on tight cornering and learning where each track's edges and jumps are.
