Mole Mania is a puzzle game for the original Game Boy in which you play Muddy Mole, digging through gardens and fields to reunite with his family. Each area is a single screen filled with walls, water, obstacles and enemies, and your task is usually to move a large black ball to the exit. You can push the ball around above ground, or burrow underground to pass beneath obstacles and pop up elsewhere, which is also how you avoid animals and hazards you cannot deal with directly. Levels are grouped into themed worlds that end with a boss encounter. The mix of tunnelling and object-pushing means many rooms have a single correct order of moves, and part of the challenge is working out how the surface and underground layers connect.
