Mr Nutz is a side-scrolling platformer starring a red squirrel. You run and jump through themed stages, using a tail swipe to knock out enemies and bouncing on heads to clear a path, while collecting nuts and hidden items tucked away in secret alcoves. Levels are built around exploration as much as speed, with breakable blocks, springs and side routes that hide bonus pickups, and boss encounters that close out areas. Controls are simple, relying on a jump and an attack, and the challenge comes from platform timing and learning enemy patterns. The Game Boy Color version keeps the bright cartoon look of the character and his animal enemies. Suited to players who like straightforward mascot platforming with collectibles to hunt down.
