The Nintendo 3DS XL is a clamshell handheld with larger screens than the original 3DS model. The upper screen displays stereoscopic 3D without glasses, with a depth slider along the side that adjusts the effect or turns it off entirely. The lower screen is a resistive touch screen used with the included-style stylus for menus, maps, and inventory in many titles. Controls include a circle pad, D-pad, face buttons, and shoulder buttons. The system plays Nintendo 3DS game cards and is backward compatible with Nintendo DS games. Storage runs off an SD-type memory card, and the system supports downloadable software, wireless play, and the StreetPass and SpotPass features that exchange data with other systems and networks. Built-in software includes cameras and standard system applications.
