Pikmin is a real-time strategy game for the GameCube. You play as Captain Olimar, a spaceman who crash-lands on an unfamiliar planet and must recover the scattered parts of his ship before his life support runs out. To do it you command Pikmin, small plant-like creatures you pluck from the ground and throw at obstacles, enemies and ship parts. Different colours have different strengths: red Pikmin resist fire, yellow can be thrown higher and carry bomb rocks, and blue survive in water. Each in-game day gives you a limited stretch of daylight before you must return your squad to the ship, and any Pikmin left outside are lost overnight. Progress means splitting your group between tasks, growing your numbers from flower pellets and defeated creatures, and planning routes through insect-scale environments.
