Attack of the Rhynocs is a handheld Spyro adventure for the Game Boy Advance, played from an overhead, slightly angled viewpoint rather than in full 3D. You guide Spyro through a series of connected areas, fighting Rhynocs and other enemies with his charge and flame attacks, talking to characters who set tasks, and collecting gems and other items to progress. Levels mix light platforming and combat with puzzles and errands that send you back and forth between locations once you have gained the means to reach new ground, and there are minigame-style challenges along the way. Sparx the dragonfly appears as usual to track Spyro's health. The presentation uses sprite artwork and a top-down perspective suited to the GBA hardware.
