The Dreamcast release of Street Fighter Alpha 3 brings Capcom's 2D fighter to the console with the arcade's six-button controls and best-of-three round structure. You select a fighter and one of the -isms, which determine your super meter behaviour and available techniques: A-ism offers multiple super combo levels, X-ism a single powerful stocked super, and V-ism the Custom Combo system. Sustained blocking drains a Guard Power gauge, discouraging purely defensive play. The roster combines Alpha-era characters with fighters carried over from earlier Street Fighter games, each with hand-drawn sprites and animated backgrounds. Alongside the arcade ladder and two-player versus, the game includes the World Tour single-player mode, in which you take a character through a run of matches with unusual conditions and unlock abilities, plus training and additional survival-style options.
