Super Battleship is a Super Nintendo adaptation of the naval guessing game. You place a fleet of ships on a hidden grid and take turns calling coordinates against an opponent, marking hits and misses until one side's fleet is sunk. Alongside the traditional grid rules, the game includes a more elaborate mode that presents the naval combat with a ship's-bridge view and additional tactical elements, so it is not limited to plotting pegs on a board. You can play against the computer or against another person, and the interface handles ship placement, targeting and damage tracking for you. Presentation includes a military framing with sound effects and visuals for firing and impacts. It is a turn-based strategy title driven by deduction and elimination rather than reflexes.
