Super Mario Maker is a level creation tool and platformer for the Wii U. Using the GamePad's touch screen and stylus, you drag blocks, enemies, pipes, power-ups and terrain onto a grid to build your own Mario stages, then play them yourself or upload them for others. Levels can be styled after Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World or New Super Mario Bros. U, with each style changing the art, music and how Mario controls. Parts unlock as you build, and elements can be combined in ways the original games never allowed, such as giving enemies wings or stacking them. Online modes let you download and play courses made by other players, including challenge runs against uploaded stages. Amiibo figures unlock costumes for the 8-bit Mario style.
