Tetris 2 on the Super Nintendo is a colour-matching take on the falling-block formula. The well begins partly filled with fixed blocks, and your goal in each stage is to remove the flashing blocks by matching three or more of the same colour in a row or column. Falling pieces are multi-coloured and can split apart when part of them clears, causing leftovers to drop and set off further matches. Chain reactions are central to scoring and to digging through crowded boards. Play continues stage by stage, with tighter starting layouts and faster drops as you advance. Alongside the single-player run there is a two-player versus mode where clearing blocks puts pressure on the other side. Presentation uses the SNES's colour palette to keep the block types easy to tell apart.
