This Game Boy Advance release brings Sega's side-scrolling ninja action game to a handheld. You play as Joe Musashi, moving through stages of urban rooftops, industrial areas and other locations while throwing shuriken, striking with close attacks and using a limited stock of ninjutsu magic that clears the screen or protects you. Enemies include gunmen, other ninja and machinery, and each stage closes with a boss fight. Shuriken are finite, so you collect refills and choose when to fight up close instead. The structure is linear and stage-based, with checkpoints and a time limit, and the difficulty rewards learning enemy placement. The presentation carries over the original's soundtrack and sprite artwork, adjusted for the GBA's screen.
