Top Gear is a racing game for the Super Nintendo played from a behind-the-car perspective, with courses set in locations around the world. You race against a large field of opponents across a series of tracks, and finishing high enough in each event lets you continue to the next. Fuel management is part of the challenge: your tank drains as you drive, so you need to pit to refill during longer races. A limited supply of nitro boosts gives you short bursts of extra speed. Passwords let you resume progress rather than starting over. The game supports two players in split-screen, with the screen divided horizontally so both drivers race the same course at once. Car selection trades top speed against handling and grip.
