TransWorld Surf: Next Wave brings the surfing series to GameCube, built around riding waves and stringing together tricks for points. You pick a surfer, paddle out, and work through breaks at a range of coastal locations, timing your drop-in and carving along the face of the wave to build combos. Aerials, spins, grabs and board slides are chained together for higher scores, with balance and landing timing determining whether a run pays off. Objective lists give you goals to complete in each session, such as hitting score targets or pulling off specific maneuvers, which unlock further content. Alongside the goal-driven career play there are free-ride and multiplayer score-attack options. The presentation follows the extreme-sports template of the era, with licensed music, wipeouts and replay-friendly camera work.
