WCW World Championship Wrestling is a wrestling game for the Nintendo Entertainment System licensed from World Championship Wrestling. You select a wrestler from a roster of WCW performers and compete in one-on-one matches viewed from a side-on perspective, using punches, kicks, grapples and each character's own set of signature holds and aerial attacks. Matches are won by pinfall, submission or count-out, with referee rulings handled automatically. A single-player path takes you through a series of opponents toward a championship, while two players can face each other directly. Wrestlers are differentiated by their move lists and attributes, and grappling is resolved through button-timing exchanges once you close the distance. Presentation includes portrait screens and simple arena backdrops typical of NES sports titles.
