Wizardry: Knight of Diamonds is the second scenario in the Wizardry series, presented here on the NES. It is a first-person, grid-based dungeon crawler in which you guide a party of six characters through a maze, viewed one square at a time in wireframe-style corridors. The scenario is designed for experienced adventurers, and the dungeon is built around recovering pieces of a legendary set of equipment, with each level guarded and gated by its own challenges. Combat is turn-based and handled through menus, with front-line fighters trading blows while spellcasters work from the back rank. Party management is central: you balance classes and alignments, ration spell charges, identify unknown items and decide when to retreat to town to rest, heal and resurrect the fallen. Mapping the maze yourself is expected.
