Yoshi's Cookie is a puzzle game for the NES built around sliding rows and columns rather than dropping pieces. The grid fills with cookies in several distinct shapes, and you move a cursor to shift a whole line horizontally or vertically, with cookies wrapping around to the other side. Completing a full row or column of the same cookie clears it from the board. New cookies continually feed in from the edges, and Yoshi cookies serve as wildcards that can set off larger clears. Modes include a solo action mode that speeds up as you advance, a two-player versus mode, and a puzzle mode with preset boards to clear under a move limit. Music and Mario-series characters give the game its presentation.
