Flying Dragon is a fighting game for the Nintendo 64 that packages two distinct styles of play. One mode is a straightforward 3D versus fighter with realistically proportioned characters, fought in enclosed arenas against the CPU or a second player. The other uses super-deformed, big-headed versions of the same cast and adds role-playing elements: you take a fighter through a series of matches, earning experience and items that raise attributes such as strength and defence, so your character grows stronger between bouts. Equipment and stat management sit alongside the punching, kicking and special moves, giving the mode a progression structure unusual for the genre. Both modes support two-player matches, and characters carry over between them, so time spent building a fighter feeds into head-to-head play.
