Rat Attack is an action-puzzle game for the Nintendo 64 in which you control a cat tasked with clearing out infestations of rats. Rather than attacking rats directly, you catch them by drawing a boundary: you run a line of claw marks around a group of rats and close the shape to squash everything inside it. The bigger the area you enclose, the more rats you can take out at once, but the longer you are exposed to being bitten while the line is open. Stages are viewed from an overhead-style perspective and add hazards, obstacles and tougher rat types as they progress. The game supports single-player play and multiplayer for competitive or cooperative rat-catching on the same screen.
