Boulder Dash EX brings the long-running digging puzzle series to Game Boy Advance. You control a character who tunnels through dirt-filled caves to collect a required number of diamonds, which opens the exit and lets you move on to the next cave. The complication is physics: boulders and gems sit on top of the dirt you remove, and they fall when unsupported, crushing you if you are underneath. Creatures patrol the caves as well, and part of the puzzle is dropping rocks on them or luring them into position rather than avoiding them outright. Each cave has a time limit, so routes need to be planned but also executed quickly. Play is grid-based and deliberate, rewarding you for reading a screen before you start digging into it.
