This Game Boy Advance version of Cars is built around the film's characters but scaled to handheld hardware, using an overhead perspective rather than the behind-the-car 3D view of the console releases. You race as Lightning McQueen and other cars from the movie across circuits themed on locations from the film, from dusty Radiator Springs roads to Piston Cup speedways. Races involve drifting through corners, collecting boost and jostling with the AI field for position, and the game mixes standard races with other event types and challenges as you progress. Cutscene stills and text sequences carry the story beats between events. Controls are kept simple, with acceleration, braking and a boost, making it approachable for younger players. A link cable option supports racing against another player.
