Doom II comes to Game Boy Advance as a handheld conversion of the classic PC first-person shooter. You fight through demon-infested levels alone, hunting for keycards and switches while blasting imps, zombie soldiers and larger creatures with a familiar arsenal that includes the shotgun, double-barrelled super shotgun, chaingun and rocket launcher. Levels are maze-like, built around locked doors, hidden rooms and ambushes rather than cover-based combat, and an automap helps you keep your bearings. Health, armour and ammo pickups are scattered around each stage, so exploring side routes matters as much as shooting. Controls are mapped to the GBA buttons and shoulder triggers, with strafing available for circling enemies. The game uses the system's link cable support for multiplayer play between GBA consoles.
