SimCity 2000 on Game Boy Advance is a handheld version of the isometric city-building simulation. You start with open land and a budget, laying out roads, rail, power plants and power lines, and zoning residential, commercial and industrial districts of different densities. Services such as police, fire, schools and hospitals must be funded through taxes and the annual budget, while water pipes and underground infrastructure sit on their own view layer beneath the city. Data overlays show pollution, land value, crime, traffic and population so you can diagnose why a district is stagnating. Advisors comment on your decisions, and disasters can damage what you have built. Terrain can be raised, lowered and reshaped before construction begins. Play is open-ended, with cities saved so you can return and keep expanding them.
