This Game Boy Advance version of Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts is a side-scrolling action platformer starring the knight Arthur, who sets out through haunted landscapes to rescue Princess Prin Prin from the demon realm. Arthur begins in a suit of armour that shatters after one hit, leaving him in his underwear and vulnerable to the next blow. He throws lances, daggers, axes, torches and other weapons, each with distinct arcs and firing speeds, and can perform a mid-air double jump that makes precise positioning possible over collapsing ground and moving platforms. Special armour found in chests grants magic attacks, though chests can also spring traps. Stages run through graveyards, storm-tossed seas, ice caverns and castle interiors, each ending with a large boss. The difficulty is high and demands memorisation of enemy spawn patterns.
