The Game Boy Advance version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 adapts the series' combo-driven skateboarding to handheld hardware, using an angled overhead viewpoint rather than the 3D camera of the console releases. You skate through levels performing ollies, grinds, manuals and aerial tricks, linking them together to build multipliers and reach score goals. Career progression is structured around completing objectives in each stage, such as collecting items, hitting point totals and clearing specific challenges, which unlocks further levels. You can pick from a roster of licensed professional skaters or create your own and improve stats over time. Controls are mapped to the GBA's buttons for basic and special tricks, and the game includes cartridge-based multiplayer options. It is a scaled-down take on the console game rather than a direct conversion.
