XG3 Extreme G Racing brings the futuristic bike racing series to the GameCube. You compete on armed hover-style motorcycles across enclosed circuits built from tunnels, banked curves and long straights, with speed emphasised through blur and heavy lighting effects. Weapons picked up on track let you attack rivals, and boost management plays a part in setting fast lap times. Progression comes from placing well in races to unlock additional machines and circuits, with bikes differing in top speed, handling and durability. Modes include championship-style competition alongside single races and time trials, and split-screen play lets a second person join in. Control is arcade-oriented rather than simulation-based, rewarding learning of track layouts and knowing where to brake or accelerate through corners.
