Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS is a level-building game where you construct your own 2D Mario courses using a touch-screen editor. You place blocks, enemies, pipes, power-ups and hazards, then switch to play mode to test whether the stage can be cleared. Courses can be built in several visual and physics styles based on classic Mario games, and parts unlock as you spend time with the editor. Alongside creation, Super Mario Challenge offers a set of pre-made courses with optional objectives such as collecting coins or finishing without taking damage, and clearing them teaches ideas you can use in your own designs. Courses can be traded locally and through StreetPass. The dual screens split the toolbox and the level canvas for building with the stylus.
