New Play Control: Pikmin is a Wii version of the GameCube strategy game, using the Wii Remote pointer to aim throws and direct your squad. You play as Captain Olimar, stranded on an unfamiliar planet after his ship breaks apart, and you have a limited number of in-game days to recover its missing parts. To do that you pluck and command Pikmin, small plant creatures that carry objects, knock down walls and fight the wildlife. Different colours have different strengths, so red Pikmin resist fire while blue ones can travel through water. Pikmin left outside at dusk are lost, which makes managing your group and planning each day's route the core of play. Areas open up gradually as you retrieve more parts.
