This Wii release puts the Super Nintendo compilation Super Mario All-Stars on disc, running the 16-bit versions of Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3 and The Lost Levels. Each game is chosen from a menu and played as it was on the Super Nintendo, with the updated graphics and sound of the original compilation and saving between stages. Control is handled by holding the Wii Remote sideways, so the side-scrolling platforming uses the D-pad and two buttons much as it did on a Super Nintendo pad. The games themselves are unaltered ports rather than new remakes, covering the run-and-jump stages, power-ups and world maps of the NES-era Mario series. Two players can alternate turns as Mario and Luigi.
