Donkey Kong has been captured, so Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong travel across Crocodile Isle to get him back from Kaptain K. Rool. You play as one Kong at a time and switch between them freely: Diddy is quicker on his feet, while Dixie can spin her ponytail to slow her descent and cross wide gaps. One Kong can lift and throw the other, both as an attack and as a way to reach higher ledges. Stages move through pirate decks, brambled thickets, beehives, lava-filled caves and windswept ropes, with animal buddies such as Rambi and Squitter taking control for certain sections. Bonus rooms, hidden coins and secret exits reward searching, and a set of extra levels opens once enough of them have been found. Two players can alternate or cooperate.
