The Super Nintendo game released in North America as Final Fantasy II, known elsewhere as Final Fantasy IV. You play as Cecil, a dark knight in the service of the kingdom of Baron who begins to question the orders he is given, and the story follows him across the overworld, into the underground and beyond. Battles use the Active Time Battle system, with turns arriving on individual timers rather than in strict rotation. Party members join and leave as the plot moves forward, each locked to a class such as white mage, summoner, dragoon or ninja, so your tactics shift with the cast. Airships, chocobos, summoned monsters and a long chain of boss encounters fill out a story-driven turn-based role-playing game.
