Sunset Riders on Super Nintendo is a Wild West run-and-gun game based on Konami's arcade release. You choose from four bounty hunters, each with a different firearm, and move through frontier towns, canyons, saloons and rooftops shooting outlaws and dodging incoming fire. Levels are side-scrolling and end with a named boss whose attack pattern you have to read and counter. Power-ups upgrade your weapon and give you speed boosts, while horseback sections and bonus stages break up the on-foot action. A single hit costs a life, so positioning and timing matter more than raw firepower. Two players can play simultaneously in cooperative mode, with both bounty hunters on screen at once. The presentation leans on cartoon-styled sprites and a Western soundtrack throughout.
