Super Bomberman brings Hudson's maze-bombing series to the Super Nintendo. You control a Bomberman who can lay bombs that detonate in a cross-shaped blast, using them to clear soft blocks, uncover power-ups, and catch enemies in the explosion while staying out of the blast radius yourself. Power-ups extend your flame length, increase how many bombs you can place at once, and speed you up. A single-player mode moves through stages of enemies and boss encounters, while the multiplayer battle mode pits players against each other in single-screen arenas until one Bomberman is left standing. Battle play supports more than two players with a compatible multitap adapter. The controls are simple, but the tight arenas make bomb placement, escape routes, and trapping opponents in corridors the core of the game.
