X2: Wolverine's Revenge is a third-person action game for the original Xbox in which you control Wolverine. The story centers on Logan's past and his need to find a cure for the poisoning caused by the adamantium bonded to his skeleton, giving the campaign a running sense of urgency. Combat relies on claw strikes, grabs and lunging attacks, with a lock-on system for handling groups of enemies. Wolverine's heightened senses can be activated to highlight enemies, hazards and points of interest, and several stretches encourage stealth kills rather than open brawling, since taking too much damage is punishing. Levels move through facilities and outdoor areas with light platforming and switch puzzles between fights, and boss encounters pit you against larger, tougher opponents drawn from the X-Men comics.
