Yager is an aerial combat game for the original Xbox set in a future Earth. You pilot a craft that can shift between fast forward flight and a slower hovering mode, letting you switch between chasing down aircraft and holding position to engage ground and sea targets. Missions send you over open water, coastlines and dense industrial cityscapes, with objectives that include escorting, intercepting, destroying installations and surviving assaults. Between missions you can spend earnings on new aircraft, weapons and equipment, so loadout choice affects how you approach later objectives. Combat uses lock-on missiles alongside guns, and enemies range from small fighters to large capital targets that take sustained attacks. The story is delivered through mission briefings and cutscenes between sorties.
