A third-person shooter set in an urban crime story, in which the campaign puts you on both sides of the law. Some missions cast you as a gang member carrying out robberies, drive-bys and turf disputes, while others place you with police units raiding buildings and pursuing suspects. Combat centres on gunplay with cover, hostage-taking and human shields, and levels are built as linear missions through streets, housing projects and interiors. The soundtrack draws on hip-hop, and cutscenes carry the plot between missions. Alongside the single-player story, the game includes multiplayer modes that pit criminals against law enforcement in objective-based matches. The Xbox release plays with a controller-based aiming scheme typical of the era's console shooters, with weapon pickups and squad-style objectives structuring each stage.
