Vice: Project Doom is an action game for the NES set in a near-future city where you take on a criminal conspiracy as an investigator. Most of the game is side-scrolling action, with your character using an energy whip as the main weapon alongside grenades and a firearm that draw from limited supplies. Between those stages, the game switches to driving sections where you shoot at pursuing vehicles from a car, and to first-person shooting sequences where you target enemies as they appear on screen. The story is told through cutscenes with portrait art and text between missions, giving the game a cinematic structure. Health and ammunition pickups are dropped by defeated enemies, and boss encounters close out the action stages.
