Wario's Woods is a puzzle game for the Nintendo Entertainment System in which you control Toad on the floor of a forest playfield rather than dropping pieces from above. Monsters and bombs fall into the stage, and Toad picks them up, carries them, and stacks them in columns to line up matches. Clearing requires lining up monsters with a bomb of the same colour in a row, column or diagonal, and chaining several clears at once produces larger effects. The ceiling gradually lowers and more creatures arrive, so the pace tightens as a stage goes on. Wario appears as the opponent overseeing the woods. Alongside the main progression there are timed and versus options for playing against another player or the computer.
