Wolverine is a side-scrolling action game for the NES starring the X-Men character. You move through stages fighting enemies with punches or with Wolverine's claws, which can be extended and retracted; using them deals more damage but steadily drains your health, so you have to decide when the extra power is worth the cost. Wolverine's healing factor recovers health over time, and additional pickups are scattered through the levels. Stages involve platforming across hazards as well as combat, with enemy soldiers, robots and animals to get past and bosses drawn from the character's comics waiting at the end. Levels take you through varied outdoor and industrial environments, and the difficulty comes largely from managing the health cost of your claws while avoiding environmental damage.
