Mega Man Xtreme 2 is a Game Boy Color action-platformer that lets you play as both X and Zero, each with their own stages and abilities. X fires a chargeable buster and takes weapons from defeated Mavericks, while Zero fights up close with his saber and learns his own techniques. Stages and bosses are drawn from the SNES X games and reworked for the handheld's screen, keeping the dashing, wall jumping and weakness-based boss strategy of the series. Defeating enemies yields DNA Souls, a currency used to unlock upgrades and extras between missions. Heart tanks, sub tanks and armor parts are hidden in the levels, and the two characters' separate routes give you reason to work through the game more than once.
