Addams Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt for Game Boy is a side-scrolling platformer tied to the animated Addams Family series. You control Pugsley as he works through stages set in and around the family mansion, collecting the items on his scavenger hunt list. Gameplay is built on running, jumping and stomping enemies, with pickups that restore health and grant extra lives, plus throwable items used to deal with enemies at a distance. Each area is themed after a part of the Addams property and ends with a boss or a target item to retrieve. Levels hide side routes and secret rooms that reward exploration. The monochrome presentation keeps the show's characters recognisable, and the structure is straightforward stage-by-stage progression rather than open-ended exploration.
