The Game Boy entry in the Battletoads series, built as a single-player side-scrolling action game. You control a Battletoad through a run of stages that alternate between hand-to-hand combat and sections based on movement and timing, including descent and high-speed obstacle segments in the style of the console games. Enemies are handled with melee attacks and stomps, animated with the series' exaggerated impact effects, and stages close out with boss encounters. Lives and continues are limited, and many hazards kill on contact, so progress relies on learning each stage's layout and reacting to obstacle patterns. The presentation is monochrome, with scaled-down sprites and level designs adapted to the smaller screen.
