Bubble Bobble on Game Boy is a handheld conversion of Taito's single-screen arcade puzzle-platformer. You play as a bubble dragon working through a series of enclosed stages, trapping the enemies that roam each screen inside bubbles and then bursting them to clear the level. Bubbles float upward and drift, so timing and positioning matter, and popping several at once produces fruit and other items worth extra points. Power-ups appear as you play, altering your bubbles or granting temporary abilities such as increased speed. Levels are laid out as arrangements of small platforms, and clearing a screen moves you straight into the next. Waiting too long on a stage brings out additional pressure to keep you moving. The game runs in monochrome on original Game Boy hardware.
