Duck Tales 2 is a side-scrolling platformer for the Game Boy in which Scrooge McDuck sets out after a lost family treasure. As before, his cane serves as a pogo stick for bouncing on foes and clearing hazards and as a club for striking blocks and objects. Stages are selected from a map and can be visited in different orders, with each one hiding money, gems and secret areas behind breakable scenery. This entry adds cane upgrades that expand what Scrooge can do, letting you pull rings, break certain surfaces and reach previously inaccessible spots, which rewards returning to earlier levels. Bosses close out the stages, and the treasure you accumulate contributes to your final total. The monochrome Game Boy presentation keeps the same pogo-focused platforming at the heart of play.
