Kirby's Block Ball is a Game Boy take on block-breaking action in which Kirby himself is the ball. Paddles can appear on more than one side of the playfield, so you defend several edges while bouncing Kirby into the blocks above. Clearing the required blocks opens the way onward, and stages are grouped into rounds that end with boss encounters against familiar Kirby foes. Some blocks contain items and power-ups, including abilities that briefly change how Kirby attacks, such as burning or spiky forms. Holding a button lets Kirby stick to a paddle so you can aim your next shot, and bonus points are awarded for speed and thoroughness. High scores are recorded for each stage.
