A side-scrolling platformer for the Game Boy in which you guide Kirby across a series of worlds made up of multiple stages, each ending in a boss encounter. Kirby inhales enemies and either spits them out as projectiles or swallows them to take on copy abilities such as fire, ice, and a sword. The main addition here is a trio of animal companions: Rick the hamster, Coo the owl, and Kine the fish. Each one changes how Kirby moves through a stage, and combining a companion with a copy ability produces a different version of that power, so the same ability behaves differently depending on who is carrying it. Hidden items tucked away in certain stages open up more of the game if you find them all.
