Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge brings the series' run-and-gun platforming to the Game Boy. You play as Mega Man, choosing stages from a select screen, then jumping and shooting your way to a Robot Master and taking that boss's weapon for your own arsenal. The roster draws on Robot Masters from the earlier NES games, and the special weapons work as they do in the console entries, with limited energy that you replenish from pickups. Later sections lead into Dr. Wily's fortress, where you face a boss built specifically to counter Mega Man before the final confrontation. Levels are laid out for the smaller screen, with disappearing blocks, spikes and enemy placement demanding precise jumps, and passwords let you return to your progress.
