The Sega CD version of Dragon's Lair brings the laserdisc arcade game to home hardware using the disc format's video capacity. The game plays as a series of hand-drawn animated scenes in which you guide Dirk the Daring through the castle of the wizard Mordroc in search of Princess Daphne. Instead of free movement, you watch each scene and press a direction or the sword button at the correct moment; a correct input continues the animation, while a wrong or late one triggers a death sequence. Rooms include collapsing floors, tentacles, a knight's armory and other traps, and much of the challenge comes from memorizing which action each moment requires. The animation is the game's centerpiece, presented in the style of the original arcade release.
