Mad Dog II: The Lost Gold is a full-motion-video shooting game on Sega CD, following the earlier Mad Dog McCree. The entire game is presented as live-action Western footage filmed with actors, and you play from a first-person perspective as a gunfighter searching for a hidden gold cache. Scenes play out on screen and you aim and fire at outlaws as they appear, with hesitation or a misplaced shot resulting in a lost life. Shooting innocent bystanders is penalised. The game is structured around branching choices of guide and route, so the sequence of shootouts and locations varies between plays. It can be played with a standard controller, a mouse or a compatible light gun on the Sega CD.
