Panic is a comedy title for the Sega CD built around absurd animated sequences rather than conventional gameplay. You control a character wandering through a world filled with buttons, switches and levers, and pressing them triggers full-motion video gags: bizarre transformations, sudden scene changes, characters appearing and being flung about, and other non sequiturs. Some presses move you onward, some send you somewhere unexpected and some end your run outright, so progress comes from trial and error as you work out which controls lead where. There is very little in the way of traditional challenge or scoring; the appeal is discovering as many of the animated jokes as possible. The art style is cartoonish and deliberately nonsensical, and the game leans heavily on the Sega CD's ability to stream video and audio from disc.
