Ace Combat: Joint Assault is a PSP entry in the aerial combat series, with a story that takes place across real-world locations rather than the series' fictional setting. You fly as part of a squadron through mission-based sorties, engaging enemy fighters, ground forces and naval targets while following objectives set out in pre-flight briefings. A notable feature is the handling of simultaneous operations, where separate battles unfold at once and you can move between them during a mission. Aircraft are unlocked and purchased as you progress, and can be fitted with parts and special weapon loadouts. Controls follow the series' arcade approach rather than simulation, with radar, cockpit and chase views. Cooperative multiplayer lets several players fly missions together, with support roles and shared objectives.
